Fisher Barton Names Technology Center Conference Room in Honor of Founder Richard (Dick) L. Wilkey
Watertown, Wis. — Fisher Barton announced today the naming of a conference room within its Technology Center in honor of company founder Richard (Dick) L. Wilkey, recognized for his lasting impact on the company, the manufacturing industry, and the Watertown community.
The decision to rename the conference room was made by Scott Hoffman, CEO of Fisher Barton, as a tribute to Wilkey’s vision, leadership, and legacy. A commemorative plaque will reside permanently in the room, serving as a reminder of the values, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit that continue to guide Fisher Barton today. Dick will celebrate his 91st birthday this year.
“Dick Wilkey didn’t just start a company — he built an industry‑leading business grounded in metallurgy expertise, relentless innovation, and a deep commitment to people,” said Hoffman. “From pioneering advances in lawn mower blade technology to giving back generously to the Watertown community, Dick’s influence is woven into everything we do. The legacy he created lives on through our people, our products, and the future we are building.”
Founded by Wilkey in Watertown, Fisher Barton has grown into the world’s largest manufacturer of lawn mower blades, serving nearly every major OEM in the outdoor power equipment industry. What began with a focus on metallurgical excellence and craftsmanship has evolved into a global manufacturing organization known for precision engineering, advanced materials, and large‑scale production capabilities.
Wilkey’s impact extends well beyond the walls of the company. His commitment to community, workforce development, and long‑term investment helped shape Fisher Barton into a cornerstone of Watertown’s industrial and economic landscape.
The conference room is located within Fisher Barton’s Technology Center, a hub designed to support customers through product development, testing, prototyping, and advanced engineering collaboration. The Technology Center reflects how far the company has come since its earliest days — integrating modern simulation tools, blade performance testing, metallurgical analysis, and manufacturing innovation to help customers solve complex challenges.
“Dick started this business with hands‑on ingenuity and a belief in doing things the right way,” Hoffman added. “Today, our Technology Center shows how that same mindset has grown — blending decades of experience with cutting‑edge technology to support our customers and drive the next generation of growth.”
As Fisher Barton continues to expand its capabilities, markets, and manufacturing footprint, the newly named conference room stands as both a tribute to the past and a symbol of the future. It honors a founder whose vision laid the groundwork for innovation, global leadership, and continued investment in people, technology, and community.
