Determined to provide superior heat treating services, Fisher Barton South Carolina has made major investments in equipment, technology and people. Our family of companies includes 7 metallurgists. We understand why and what is required to make good parts and we want to share that expertise with you. Austempering offers benefits over other conventional oil quench and temper methods of heat treating metal stampings. The process consists of submersing the part into a liquid salt bath until it reaches the proper austentizing temperature. The parts are then moved directly to a salt quench where the Austenite is transformed into Bainite. The parts are then removed and cooled. Austempering offers the following advantages: Less Distortion Uniform and Consistent Hardness Tougher and More Wear Resistant Higher Impact and Fatique Strengths Resistance to Hydrogen Embrittlement
